Demon Slayer Chapter 39

Rui becomes even more obsessed with the idea of a perfect family and tells Tanjiro that his only choice is to give up Nezuko or die. He suddenly captures Nezuko with his threads and holds her above Tanjiro. Tanjiro desperately tries to save his sister, but Rui refuses to let her go and threatens to leave her exposed to the sunlight if she does not obey him.

In Demon Slayer Chapter 39, Tanjiro gathers his strength and uses Water Breathing: Tenth Form, Constant Flux to cut through Rui’s threads with his broken sword. Rui then reveals that he has been holding back and surrounds Tanjiro with an even stronger web of blood-infused threads. As Tanjiro realizes that he may not survive the attack, memories of his family begin flashing through his mind. He remembers his father and the mysterious words about breathing and becoming like Hinokami, giving him a final clue that could change the course of the battle.
